ProtxLtm oil and fuel filtration optimizes engine inventory availability, tempo and service life and costs 70% less than the current oil and filter change including labour. Additionally, there are significant operational, logistics and carbon reduction benefits with new and used oil being reduced by up to a factor of 20 i.e. from 20 drums down to 1 drum per year.
ProtxLTM oil and fuel filtration has been used by the Royal Australian Navy for seven years, NATO parts number WO800HPOE Group: 2910, Stock Code 661553147, Aid KKZO9N001. This oil filter is currently used at the Naval Air Warfare Centre, Patuxent [PAX] River Maryland. The application of ProtxLTM cost effectively reduces the logistics tail and frees up space and reduces weight on all platforms. Extending engine lubricated component service life in submarines and frigates by 100%. There are very significant cost saving and increased availability when the time to cut open the hull is extended by 100% to remove engines for major rebuild.
The tyranny of distance makes it an incredibly expensive and unnecessary exercise of doing a regular 250 hour oil change on hundreds of thousands of diesel gen-set transmitters that form the mobile phone networks in Africa, India, South America and the Middle East. A ProtxL TM module used on an Ansaldo steam turbine 100Meg ($100Million with 16,000 litres of synthetic oil) reduced oil moisture from 557ppm down to 38ppm in 4 days. ProtxLTM enables Power house diesel engines to operate on 3,000 hour extended oil change.
Machine availability and performance is critical to achieve production targets. ProtxLTM maintains the highest oil and diesel cleanliness standard every day of the year sufficient to break the engine oil acid cycle and stop varnish. As an example a haul truck on 2,000 hour extended oil and filter service increases machine availability and reduces the cost of repairs and down –time, while increasing production. These costs are increased when capital costs of reserve equipment are considered.
For the last 20 years large inventories of marine engines have operated on 3,000 hours extended service on the main engines. Owner managers were surprised with V2 92 TA & V8 TA Detroit Diesel engines that run 2,000 hours on zero soot readings and only slight soot readings occurring up to 2,500 hours and the fuel pumps are serviced every 15,000 hours and injectors every 7,500 hours.
